Polyploidy Distribution of Allium grayi in Korea

Abstract

|
|
The chromosome number was observed to investigate the ploidy of Allium grayi collected throughout the whole country of Korea. They were divided into 2 groups composed of the basic number of x=8, that is, tetraploid of 2n=4x=32 and pentaploid of 2n=5x=40. The tetraploid was shown in 35 localities and pentaploid was 9 out of 44 collections. Their geographical distribution was not clearly distinguished. But, on the whole, the tetraploid form occurred nearly throughout the whole areas investigated, and the pentaploid form was sporadically distributed in the southeast coastal areas and some inland.
